JAKARTA: The Directorate General of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (“DGIP”) introduced the Trademark Automatic Renewal Approval (in Bahasa Indonesia known as Persetujuan Otomatis Perpanjangan (POP)) on Friday, 28 October 2022. Utilizing advanced technology instruments, DGIP continues to innovate to provide best and satisfactory services to trademark owners. DGIP has created a new system to expedite the processing of trademark renewals – and Trademark POP is a revolutionary innovation implemented to address the issue. The system allows trademark renewal process to be completed within less than 10 minutes.
Recently, Mr. Razilu, the acting Director General of Intellectual Property, stated that the Trademark POP system could complete the trademark renewal process in under ten minutes. Since the system went live last Friday, our firm has had the chance to test the claim, and to our delight, they have lived up to our expectations. The renewal process was completed, and we received the renewal letter in less than ten minutes.
Previously, in January 2022, DGIP had successfully implemented Copyright POP, allowing copyright registration to complete within minutes. In light of this success, DGIP proceeded to implement the Trademark POP system, which is now available to all trademark owners.
