Jakarta: Indonesia is further strengthening its digital ecosystem with the allocation of the 6 GHz frequency band for Wi-Fi. This strategic step was announced by the Minister of the Ministry of Communications and Digital of the Republic of Indonesia ("Komdigi"), Meutya Hafid, as part of efforts to expand connectivity and accelerate the adoption of the latest technologies such as Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7.
As a non-profit organization engaged in information technology and telecommunications in Indonesia, the Indonesia Technology Alliance (ITA) has embraced the policy and affirmed its commitment to encouraging national digital transformation through the "Better Wi-Fi" initiative. This initiative aims to create reliable and high-speed internet connectivity which will bring a positive impact to society, with the hope of making Indonesia a leader in digital connectivity.
On this occasion, our Managing Partner, Dr. Justisiari P. Kusumah, was officially appointed as the Chairman of ITA. This appointment reflects his strategic role in advancing the technology industry and ensuring digital regulations continue to support the development of innovation and the public interest.
Some of the key initiatives spearheaded by ITA include:
Encourage the widespread adoption of 6 GHz Wi-Fi to improve internet access for all users;
Develop innovative use cases for Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 through industry collaboration; and
Advocate for responsible spectrum management while balancing industry needs with public interest.
The allocation of the 6 GHz Wi-Fi spectrum marks a leap forward for Indonesia in enhancing the digital era.
