October 2020, K&K Advocates - intellectual property, as the attorney of The
Gillette Company (owner of the rights to the Gillette brand), together with PT.
Procter & Gamble Home Products Indonesia, Directorate General of Customs
and Excise , the Directorate General of Intellectual Property and the
Commercial Court at the Semarang District Court have conducted an examination
of a razor blade product imported by a company in Indonesia, where the product
is suspected of violating the Intellectual Property of the brands of The
Gillette Company and its variants. In consideration of the razor product that
it may have used the “Gillette” brand without the permission and rights of the
brand owner.
During the joint
examination, K&K Advocates - intellectual property and representatives of
PT. Procter & Gamble Home Products Indonesia ensures that the imported
products are counterfeit.
Furthermore,
based on this examination, on Monday, November 2, 2020, the Commercial Court at
the Semarang District Court will announce its decision there to.
This activity
has been carried out by Directorate General of Customs and Excise to protect
investors and/or brand owners in Indonesia as well as showing the serious
intention of the Indonesian government in protecting intellectual property in
Indonesia.
Procter and Gamble is the first foreign investment company (PMA Company) that has successfully recorded its trademarks at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise as well as the first PMA that has submitted a request for border measure action within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise.
